Your cover letter font size should be uniform throughout the page.
Similarly, with resumes, you do not want the cover letter to exceed one-page in length.
To appear as professional as possible, your cover letter should be a font size that is easily readable and one that does not place strain on the eyes.
Ideally, you should look to use a font of 10, 11, or 12.
Using a font size that is easy to read also makes a great first impression.
The font size of 10, 11, and 12 look and appear cleaner and more professional on the page.
They are uniform sizes and are not too large or too small.
Sticking with one font size throughout the page is paramount.
Don’t change the font size, the font type, or add in additional colors, bold, italics, or underlines.
Your cover letter is meant to represent your professional self and adding in additional, unneeded characters and personalities will come off poorly.
In addition, your cover letter font size should match the font size of your resume.
This doesn’t mean that the verbiage should be the same between the two, but if you use a font size of 11 on your resume, keep it uniform and use the same font size on your cover letter.
When deciding upon a cover letter font size, be sure to pay additional attention to the actual font as-well.
You will want to go with a font that is clean, modern, and professional.
You will also want to choose one that is widely used and not one that can come off as childish or unprofessional.
As you will want the recruiter or hiring manager to focus on the content of your cover letter and not the font itself, be sure to choose one that is not difficult to read.
