This PERT cheat sheet compresses Florida's Postsecondary Education Readiness Test into a printable rundown of the scaled-score targets and skills that decide your placement. It's a premium cheat sheet built by Capital Prep — the one premium prep we trust — and it's yours free. Reinforce it with the rest of your free PERT toolkit: the practice test, study guide, and flashcards.

PERT exam at a glance

  • Scoring: 50–150 scaled score per subtest — placement only, no pass/fail
  • College-ready cut scores: Reading 106 · Writing 103 · Math 114 (Math 123 places into College Algebra)
  • Subtests: Mathematics, Reading, Writing — 30 questions each (25 scored + 5 field-test)
  • Format & time: Computer-adaptive and untimed, taken at a Florida college testing center

What’s on the PERT cheat sheet

  • Scaled scores & placement the 50–150 scale, the current cut scores (Reading 106, Writing 103, Math 114), and the Math 123 line into College Algebra.
  • Mathematics (30 questions) linear and quadratic equations, inequalities, literal equations, polynomials and factoring, slope and the coordinate plane, functions, and systems.
  • Reading (30 questions) main idea and supporting details, vocabulary in context, inference, author's purpose and tone, text structure, and evaluating arguments.
  • Writing (30 questions) standard written English — grammar, usage, and mechanics — plus organization, transitions, word choice, and sentence structure.

How to use it in your final week

  • Memorize the scaled-score targets first — Reading 106, Writing 103, Math 114, and Math 123 for direct College Algebra placement — so every practice set has a number to beat.
  • Front-load Math: it has the most placement bands, so a few extra points there moves your placement more than anywhere else. Drill isolate-the-variable, slope, and factoring until they are automatic.
  • Run one timed section drill per day even though the real PERT is untimed — the pacing keeps you sharp and surfaces the topics still costing you scaled-score points.
  • Read the sheet the morning of the test for a final pass on the memory hooks — flip the inequality sign for a negative, 'affect' is the verb, and anchor every Reading answer to the passage.

The cheat sheet is your review layer — your PERT practice test drives the exam-readiness ring at the top of this page. Download it, review, then take a full practice exam (or drill with the study guide and flashcards) to see where you stand.
