- Drill the order of draw until it is reflex, by ADDITIVE not by color: yellow → light blue → red/SST → green → lavender → gray. Then drill the capillary reversal (EDTA/lavender FIRST) separately, because that flip is the classic distractor.
- Then work Specimen Handling, Transport & Processing (15–20%) and Laboratory Operations (15–20%) — together they are as large as Specimen Collection and reward memorized rules.
- Rehearse the trap list: underfilled citrate tubes mean an automatic coagulation recollect, alcohol prep invalidates a blood alcohol draw, and light blue must come before serum tubes to protect coag testing.
- Read the sheet the morning of your appointment for a final pass on the memory hooks, and remember the exam is adaptive — you cannot go back, so commit to each answer.
