- Memorize the rounding rule cold — the overall band is the average of your four sections, and an average ending in .25 rounds up to the next half band while .75 rounds up to the next whole band.
- Lift your weakest section first: because the overall band is an average, a half band gained on your lowest skill moves your result faster than polishing a strong one.
- Reread the four Writing and four Speaking marking criteria the night before — Task Response, Coherence and Cohesion, Lexical Resource, and Grammatical Range and Accuracy are exactly what examiners reward.
- Pair each review pass with a short timed drill (a Reading passage in 20 minutes, one Task 2 essay in 40) so your pacing feels routine on test day.
