What’s on the ASE T8 cheat sheet

  • Frame & Chassis (26 of 50 — 43%) air-brake adjustment, identify the brake CHAMBER TYPE before judging stroke, 20% rule.
  • Engine Systems (12 of 50 — 20%) engine oil check, milky, light-tan, frothy ("milkshake") oil = COOLANT, coolant freeze protection.
  • Electrical & Electronics (12 of 50 — 20%) battery state of charge (open-circuit, at REST), distinguish RESTING voltage from CHARGING voltage, carbon-pile load test.
  • Cab & Hood (6 of 50 — 10%) seat belts, windshield wipers, visibility.
  • (no calculation-based items the core tasks ASE lists for this area.
  • Road / Operational Test (4 of 50 — 7%) confirm braking performance and that the truck does NOT pull, turn each SYMPTOM into a specific responsible COMPONENT, pull to one side when released = low front-tire pressure, brake.

How to use it in your final week

  • Front-load Frame & Chassis — at 26 of the 50 scored questions it is about 43% of the test on its own, so if you master one section from the sheet, make it this one.
  • Then work Engine Systems (12 of 50) — the sheet leads there with engine oil check.
  • Then work Electrical & Electronics (12 of 50) — the sheet leads there with battery state of charge (open-circuit, at REST).
  • Drill the reversal traps until they are reflex — the most commonly flipped one on this test is judging pushrod stroke WITHOUT identifying the chamber type.
  • Read the sheet the morning of your appointment for a last pass on the memory hooks, then answer every one of the 60 questions — 10 are unscored research items and you are not told which.

The cheat sheet is your review layer — your ASE T8 practice test drives the exam-readiness ring at the top of this page. Download it, review, then take a full practice exam (or drill with the study guide and flashcards) to see where you stand.
