What’s on the AP Microeconomics cheat sheet
- Unit 1 · Basic Economic Concepts (12-15%) — scarcity, opportunity cost, the production possibilities curve, and comparative advantage.
- Unit 2 · Supply and Demand (20-25%) — movement vs. shift, equilibrium, elasticity and total revenue, surplus, taxes, and price controls.
- Unit 3 · Production, Cost & Perfect Competition (22-25%) — the cost formulas, MR = MC, the shutdown point, and long-run zero economic profit — the biggest unit.
- Unit 4 · Imperfect Competition (15-22%) — monopoly, monopolistic competition, oligopoly, game theory, and price discrimination.
- Unit 5 · Factor Markets (10-13%) — derived demand, MRP = MRC hiring, competitive labor markets, and monopsony.
- Unit 6 · Market Failure & Government (8-13%) — externalities, public goods and the free-rider problem, and the government fixes for each failure.
How to use it in your final week
- Front-load Units 2 and 3 — supply and demand plus production, cost, and perfect competition are together roughly half the multiple-choice section, so master those graphs first.
- Re-draw every key diagram from memory: supply-and-demand equilibrium, the U-shaped cost curves with MC cutting ATC and AVC at their minimums, and the monopoly vs. perfect-competition output rules.
- Lock in the one rule that runs the whole exam — every firm produces where MR = MC, and its twin in factor markets is hire where MRP = MRC.
- Read the sheet the morning of the exam for a final pass on the memory hooks — binding ceiling = shortage, binding floor = surplus, negative externality = tax, positive externality = subsidy.

It condenses the highest-yield material into a fast reference: the six College Board units with their exam weights, the cost formulas (ATC, AVC, MC), the MR = MC profit rule, the four market structures, elasticity, factor markets, and market-failure fixes. The graphs and rules that show up on the free-response section are front and center.
Yes — because drawing and labeling graphs earns points directly on the free-response section, the sheet lays out the key diagrams (supply and demand, cost curves, monopoly, perfect competition) with the labels graders look for. Use it to re-draw each graph from memory before test day.
No — the sheet is a review and last-week cram layer, not a substitute for practicing questions and drawing graphs by hand. AP Microeconomics is scored 1 to 5, and a 3 or higher generally earns college credit, so pair the sheet with timed practice to reach your target score.
