This MPJE cheat sheet distills the federal pharmacy law that runs through every state's Multistate Pharmacy Jurisprudence Examination into a printable quick reference of the rules examiners test most. It's a premium cheat sheet built by Capital Prep — the one premium prep we trust — and it's yours free. Pair it with the rest of your free MPJE toolkit: the practice test, study guide, and flashcards.

MPJE exam at a glance

  • Questions: 120 total (100 scored + 20 unscored pretest)
  • Time: 2.5 hours (150 minutes)
  • Passing score: Scaled 75 on a 0–100 scale (reported pass/fail)
  • Scope: State-specific: federal law plus one jurisdiction's pharmacy law
  • Administered by: NABP, delivered at Pearson VUE test centers
  • Cost: About $100 NABP application fee per jurisdiction (near $250 all-in; verify at nabp.pharmacy)

What’s on the MPJE cheat sheet

  • Pharmacy Practice (~83%) the dominant area — valid prescriptions, DEA schedules I–V, refills, partial fills and transfers, corresponding responsibility, OBRA-90 counseling and DUR, and generic substitution.
  • Licensure, Registration & Operational Requirements (~15%) DEA and state pharmacy registration, pharmacist licensure and continuing education, technician supervision, DEA order forms, and inventory and recordkeeping intervals.
  • General Regulatory Processes (~2%) board of pharmacy authority, inspections, disciplinary actions, and how pharmacy regulations are made and enforced.

How to use it in your final week

  • Burn in the controlled-substance numbers first — no CII refills, up to 5 refills in 6 months for CIII–V, a 72-hour window to supply a Schedule II partial fill, and 7 days to deliver a written emergency CII prescription.
  • Front-load Pharmacy Practice — it is roughly four-fifths of the MPJE, so the largest share of your cram time belongs to prescriptions, dispensing, corresponding responsibility, and OBRA-90 counseling.
  • Read the sheet against your own state's rules side by side, marking every place your jurisdiction is stricter than the federal baseline — those gaps are where candidates lose the most points.
  • Do a final pass the morning of the exam on the DEA form numbers (224/222/41/106) and the CMEA caps (3.6 g/day, 9 g/30 days), then confirm your pacing with a short timed practice set.

The cheat sheet is your review layer — your MPJE practice test drives the exam-readiness ring at the top of this page. Download it, review, then take a full practice exam (or drill with the study guide and flashcards) to see where you stand.
