Prometric Testing

Let’s talk about what Prometric is before we go into the steps for scheduling your test.

The NASBA, AICPA, or any state board of accountancy are not linked with Prometric CPA.

Prometric, often known as Prometric Testing, is a test administration company established in the United States.

Headquartered in Baltimore, Maryland in the United States, Prometric is a worldwide test center network with thousands of locations in 160 countries.

Many of the world’s most well-known licensing and certifying organizations, academic institutions, and government bodies use Prometric’s technology-enabled testing and assessment solutions.

In addition, Prometric serves more than 7 million test takers at various testing centers in more than 180 countries every year.

Simply put, it’s a business that specializes in administering professional exams.

Prometric offers a variety of accounting exams in addition to the CPA exam

Prometric is also in charge of the CMA test and a variety of other exams for various professions such as law and medical licensure.

Prometric has test centers all around the country, so there’s a good possibility one is close to you.

On the other hand, CPA candidates frequently drive an hour or more to the nearest testing site.

Prometric CPA exam scheduling

Where can you schedule your CPA exam at the most convenient Prometric testing center?

That depends on where you reside and where you expect to be when exam time arrives.

If you are a Michigan student and receive a job offer from a firm in Chicago, for example, you can arrange your exam in Illinois.

That’s one of Prometric’s best features.

You are not required to take the exam in either your home state or the state where you intend to obtain your license.

That being said, it’s almost always advisable to choose the testing center that’s nearest to your home.

When is the most appropriate time to take your CPA exam?

The CPA testing windows are open for two months out of every quarter, so you can take your exam whenever you like.

Note that you have a 6-month timeframe to schedule your exam after receiving your NTS.

You will forfeit your examination fees for that component of the examination if you do not schedule it within that six-month time limit, and you will have to pay again to re-register.

Sign up for your exam as soon as possible.

Because the testing locations are small, they usually fill up fast on specific occasions.

To ensure that your exam does not fill up, schedule it 3-4 weeks ahead of your scheduled testing day.

The Prometric CPA Exam scheduling procedure works as follows:

  • Visit the Prometric website for more information
  • On the left pane, click “Schedule” under “Actions”
  • Select your preferred test location from the drop-down menus by selecting the appropriate nation and state (for US test-takers)
  • “Next” should be selected
  • After reviewing the Terms, click “Next”
  • Read and accept the Privacy Policy
  • Next, enter your exam ID and the first four letters of your surname
  • Next, choose your exam testing date and time
  • Finally, make an appointment for your exam
  • Prometric will send an email confirmation to you once you’ve completed the appointment process

The CPA exam does not have unlimited seats at Prometric test centers.

Some of the testing locations are pretty small.

So, after you’ve received your NTS, schedule your exam as soon as possible.

You want to ensure you get a seat on your selected date and in your preferred location.

I recommend arranging your exam three to four weeks ahead of time.

Prometric CPA exam rescheduling

You can reschedule the test online if you have the exam section ID.

You have up to 24 hours before the exam to modify the date.

However, timing is crucial to prevent further fees.

If you cancel or reschedule your exam appointment at least 30 days in advance, there will be no further charges.

You will pay a fee to Prometric if you postpone or cancel your appointment between 5 and 30 days before it.

You’ll have to reapply or take the exam at your scheduled date and time if you need to reschedule your CPA Exam less than 24 hours in advance.

In that scenario, I’d advocate taking the exam if at all possible, as you don’t want to lose your CPA Exam fees.

So give it everything you’ve got!

You must visit the Prometric website to reschedule or cancel an appointment.

You must then provide your confirmation number and the first four characters of your last name.

You can then look over the specifics of your appointment and make any necessary changes.

Prometric CPA testing centers

The CPA exams are administered in Prometric centers across the USA.

All such centers are licensed and certified by the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) to administer professional-level certification exams.

It is essential to know that failure to report misconduct or negligence on behalf of an exam center can be regarded as unprofessional conduct.

Also, candidates should choose a test center that is convenient and well-equipped for taking a computer-based test.

Such a testing environment will help candidates get familiar with all computerized testing formats and prevent unnecessary stress on examination day.

ProProctor software: Instead of visiting a computer testing facility, Prometric’s ProProctor program allows you to take your exam from home or another peaceful location.

Instead, you’ll take your exam via video link under the supervision of a live proctor.

The ProProctor online proctoring platform from Prometric has two goals: one is to provide you with a secure, valid, and convenient means to test, and the other is to make your testing experience as stress-free as possible.

ProProctor gives you more control over where you test, when you test, and how you test.

NASBA addressed the potential of instituting remote proctoring for the CPA Exam in its Summer 2020 State Board Report (page 6).

However,  the May 2021 report anticipates the possibility of using Prometric’s proproctor to conduct CPA remote testing.

Candidates for the Uniform CPA Examination may soon participate in a Remote Testing Pilot Program offered by NASBA, the American Institute of CPAs, and Prometric.

The pilot test is essential to creating a feasible and safe alternative to traditional in-person testing.

Candidates would be able to take the CPA Exam from their choice location rather than a Prometric test center under the Remote Testing delivery method.

The Exam would be delivered using Prometric’s ProProctor remote assessment platform, overseen by live proctors who would assist remote test takers through security and candidate check-in procedures similar to those used at Prometric test centers.

Prometric CPA availability

When scheduling your CPA exam, location is essential.

All you have to do now is pick the most convenient location for you.

You can discover a list of Prometric CPA exam venues by following these steps:

If there is an unexpected test center closure, the Prometric rescheduling staff will notify you within 48-72 hours to reschedule your exam without penalty.

Prometric CPA results

The CPA Exam results are released regularly throughout the year.

The AICPA usually announces the score release dates for the first half of a new year in December and for the second half in June of the following year.

Keep in mind that the AICPA will deliver the scores to NASBA on the intended score release date.

Within two days of the CPA release dates, scores should be available on NASBA’s website.

In some situations, scores may be available on the NASBA website one day before the intended date for score release.

On the other hand, some states may need an additional day to process and release exam results.

Prometric CPA score release timetable

After sitting for a section of the CPA exam, the score release dates listed below indicate when you can expect to get your score, allowing you to plan your testing schedule more effectively.

Prometric provides Exam data files to the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) within 24 hours after completion for most applicants.

The AICPA will release Exam data files received after the AICPA cutoff dates later than the cutoff dates.

Due to additional analysis necessary for the written communication assignments, you may receive your score roughly one week after the scheduled release date if you take the BEC part.

Conclusion

On the day of your planned exam, you must bring your Notice To Schedule (NTS) to the test center.

You will not be allowed to take your examination without your NTS under any circumstances.

The CPA Candidate Bulletin and the IQEX Candidate Bulletin include essential details about your testing session.

Therefore, before arriving at the Test Center, all Candidates should thoroughly peruse the appropriate Bulletin.

The Candidate Bulletin contains essential details about your exam session.

Therefore, before arriving at the Test Center, all Candidates should read the Bulletin thoroughly.

You will be requested to read and acknowledge our Exam Center Regulations at the test center.
